Light Bulb Research Project

Physics 490

"The only time I become discouraged is when I think of all the things I like to do and the little time I have in which to do them."

~Thomas Edison

Hello there! Welcome to our place on the web for our physics 490 research project webpage. Well, in case you cannot tell, our research consisted of the research of light bulbs. That's right, good old light bulbs. Now the question. What can you possibly learn about light bulbs? We asked ourselves the same question. Our answer, browse this site. You will learn all you ever wanted to know about Edison and the light bulb.

Who is "us?" We freshmen at Frostburg State University, Ray Rogers and Mike Shaffer. We undertook this project under the tutelage of Dr. Joseph Hoffman, our advisor and instructor in physics 261 and physics 262.

  1. A thorough investigation of Thomas Alva Edison
  2. Our attempt of a replication of the "original Edison bulb"
  3. Our observations of the behavior of different wattage light bulbs under different input voltages
  4. Some links
