Fire in SE Texas

There is a fire producing a significant amount of smoke near Port Arthur, Texas (southeast Texas near the Gulf and the Louisiana border). The plume is blowing northwest into Texas. There are many other smaller fires in Louisiana and the south. (This is the Terra image, there was even more smoke in the Aqua image in the afternoon.)

Possibly some light haze in northern Mexico, coming just into southern Texas. Faint haze continued in eastern Washington State and the AOD algorithm caught it today. AOD was over 0.5.
