I added two new links to our resource list today. The first is Maryland Department of Environment's Air-Watch.net. As the air pollution season gets started, MDE will be posting real-time data, air pollution forecasts, meteorology data, and historical archives for the Baltimore-DC area. We will be using this site to compare to our UMBC data and our observations in Baltimore and DC.
The second link is NOAA's GOES Aerosol/Smoke Product (GASP) site. The NOAA Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) are used primarily for weather observations and prediction. Being geostationary instead of polar orbiting like Terra and Aqua, they provide continuous imagery and data over the U.S. We used our original link to GOES to see real-time cloud and weather information. The GASP site provides GOES aerosol optical depth over land, a new real-time product from NOAA. The GASP site will not be operational until later in the year, but there is some data there now. The AOD data it provides may have some kinks to work out, but it will be a very interesting new dataset to use.
