As Ray H. mentioned, the IDEA site has become public on the University of Wisconsin Space Science and Engineering Site. I have updated our link to reflect its new operational location. During its pilot stage, we routinely used IDEA's real-time MODIS AOD imagery here, but they have several other products, including fusion of AOD-PM2.5-trajectories, correlation plots, and time series graphs.
Since it was mostly to partly cloudy with no obvious haze in the U.S. today, here is a time series from the IDEA site for downtown Baltimore, covering the recent high haze events. Data include MODIS AOD (red dots), 24-hour average PM2.5 concentration (triangles), and hourly PM2.5 concentration that match with the AOD data (stars). The continuous line is hourly PM2.5 mass concentration and the dashed line is the 24-hour average PM2.5 mass concentration.
