Weekly Nephelometer Data

The UMBC Nephelometer is once again operational and weekly time series of the data will be posted at the end of each week. More on the nephelometer and monthly averages may be found here.

This week's time series shows January 26th, 2005 to have the highest scattering coefficient this week, agreeing with the code yellow AQI posted on that day. General agreement between the AQI and scattering coefficient is expected as more scattering usually indicates more particles. A cold front, followed by a high-pressure system, moved into the area on the 27th bringing in clean air from Canada, also agreeing with the AQI map posted for that day.
