Elevated AQI

Air quality conditions were poor in the Northeast, Midwest, Washington, and California, ranging from “moderate” to “unhealthy for sensitive groups” (source: EPA AIRNow)). Haze could not be identified in most of these regions since many clouds were in the MODIS satellite images. Local air pollution is expected to be the reason for the elevated AQI.

Haze over the California valley identified a few days ago on the blog (see Kamonayi's post) remains in the region. IDEA AOD (~ .4-.6) shows the intensity of aerosols.
