Haze in Lidar

There was a lot of scattering in the air over UMBC today; it was hot and hazy as mentioned in previous posts. There were some layered aerosols up to 1.5 km in the morning, which mixed down into today's boundary layer. The dark blue vertical band is due to the fact that detectors saturated from too much signal near the ground, this was corrected by decreasing the amount of light seen by the detectors with filters. In the afternoon, the boundary layer was partially cloud capped, still with a lot of scattering near the surface.
