Comparing to yesterday's PM2.5 concentrations, Michigan's air quality improved a bit. The PM2.5 levels dropped below 40 ug/m3 (EPA Airnow). The haze is still approaching Maryland. In Baltimore, the fine particle level increased to 28.2 ug/m3. The MODIS Direct picture below shows the haze over the Atlantic and eastern US. Also notice the increased AOD in northern Florida. The GASP image from yesterday night (22:45 UTC) shows intense haze in the southeast. Several fires burning in the south probably contribute to the poor conditions.
