More On the Evening Boundary Layer
The strange boundary layer behavior may have been caused by a continental air mass adverting over the area. This would explain the elevated boundary layer with local sources causing the plumes. It's also possible that we saw the pollution over the bay in the modis image below, based on surface winds as well as the trajectory below.
