Hard to imagine a clearer, cleaner day than today in the eastern U.S. Confirming Ruben's lidar, MODIS Terra showed clear skies over Maryland and DC today. The Old Town Baltimore fine particulate monitor did indeed hit zero AQI for several hours today and, although I am a little suspect of 0 readings, other stations in the region were very low, between 1 and 5 ug/m3. Spring looks like it might be starting in the Carolinas, but there is still snow on the ground in New York.
The midwest and south had moderate air quality throughout the region. The southern haze is likely from ongoing fires. The midwest haze is under cloud cover and likely from a range of regional sources.
