More on What's Burning?….
I pulled global images from the NRL/Monterey Aerosol Page for further enlightenment…
The NRL aerosol science team compares NAAPS Dust and Smoke AOD and NASA/GSFC TOMS Aerosol Index. Unfortunately, the latest TOMS data has not been made available (not available on both the TOMS-GSFC & NRL websites). For further explanation of the NRL product shown below please refer to the help files. Also refer to the NRL NAAPS animated aerosol map , which shows transport of various aerosols over time (transport from 04-06 to 04-10).
I am also providing a global composite of today's MODIS overpasses (image was created by the NRL Aerosol Science Team). Please do not confuse the sun glint for aerosols. Also refer to the MODIS world loop (04-06 to 04-10) provided by NRL.
