There will be no blog entry for June 4, 2006. We, like our colleagues at Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA, are taking time out to honor the life and record of Dr. Yoram Kaufman, who passed away on Wednesday this week.
As noted on the GSFC Climate and Radiation Branch website, NASA is taking the unprecedented step of calling data time outs for the EOS instruments MODIS, MISR, CERES, and AERONET. This time out will occur for passes of the satellite which pass over NASA GSFC, in Greenbelt MD, and will be during the memorial being held for Yoram from 1-4 pm.
Yoram's creativity and passion for remote sensing of the environment has led to many of the data sources we use on the US Air Quality Weblog. The least we can do is to join our colleagues in a moment of silence for Dr. Kaufman's memory and to wish his family peace in this difficult time.
