The south continued with haze and small fires, but the big air quality issues were out west today. Several large smoke plumes can be seen in California and Baja, with haze in the San Joaquin valley and over the Pacific. Fine particle concentrations were moderate to unhealthy in California, as well as Oregon and Washington, likely from more local sources (MODIS showed the Pacific Northwest as partly cloudy with plenty of snow).

While not air quality related, I thought this was an interesting image from MODIS: the weekend's storms left an actual swath of snow across the midwest (Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin).
