Moderate in the Midwest and fires in the south
The EPA AirNow map shows moderate air quality in the Midwest and "unhealthy for sensitive groups" AQ in Michigan. the MODIS Direct image shows most of Maryland still covered by snow (view map). This makes the AOD retrieval more difficult. There are some smoke plumes in Texas. The HMS map shows multiple fires in the south as well as a large smoke plume in Florida. However, this large smoke plume is not visible on MODIS images.
