Yesterday, Jeff Halverson sent along an image from Terra on May 11 showing the wrapping of the smoke from the Georgia-Florida wildfires into what is left of Tropical Storm Andrea. Jeff says Andrea should stop smokin'.

The smoke levels are definitely "unhealthy" for Florida residents. While widely noted on the National and state news media, residents of Florida should review recommendations from the Florida State Department of Health.
This morning I-10 and I-75 were closed for over a 50 mile stretch of highway when smoke and fog (the classic definition of smog) was so thick that multivehicle accidents occurred. Here's this morning's Terra overpass in high resolution for South Florida, courtesy of UW.

In Ontario, 14 active wildfires are blazing, one caused by the derailment of a freight train. That fire is near Savant Lake.

Aqua Modis (19:05 UTC May 10) caught a remarkable 250 m resolution image of these fires north of Lake Superior.

Finally, out west, the drought in California has caused fires in Griffith Park (I'd post the photo of me in front of the Observatory when I was 18 months old but that would be JUST too egotistical) and on Santa Catalina Island.
This Terra image was on the edge of a Rapidfire frame and so is not well registered...we will have to run it through HDFLook to register it.
