Well, its that time of the year again. No, I’m not referring to the holiday weekend, instead I’m pointing out the beginning of intense Eastern pollution (Particulate Matter) events. Late spring/summer conditions [high temperatures (intense sunlight) + specific chemical constituents (produced from anthropogenic & natural sources) + humid conditions = haze] help perpetuate the hazy conditions that we are used to this time of year.
AOD is unity in some areas due to intense haze. PM2.5 maps from EPA AIRNow were not available during the time of this post. However, we can infer PM2.5 levels from the AOD. Thus, the air quality varied from moderate to unhealthy where haze was present.
