A Little Too Close to My Old Home

The fires burning at Tahoe seem to be between Fallen Leaf Lake and Tahoe Paradise. There was a very bad fire in the latter in 1967. I got the coordinates of the fire from the HMS text file. It is being called the Angora Fire since it is at Angora Lakes, a group of small lakes between Fallen Leaf Lake and Gardner Mountain subdivision.

See Tahoe Daily Tribune article from 3:42 EDT today.

Here is where Google Earth puts those fires and I've put the position of my old home. It is 1.29 km from the Falling Leaf Lake fire.

UPDATE: From Aqua Rapidfire:

Primarily for Tahoeites who are worried about where the fire is:

From the El Dorado Sheriff's Office, location of the houses currently hardest hit by the fires as of 10:00 AM ... the fire had not gotten to Sawmill Road but there was a fire line being placed 1/4 mile west of the South Tahoe High School.
