Moderate AQI in Midwest and East

Today's IDEA map shows elevated AOD in the north, the east and the southeast. We mentioned these three major plumes on an earlier post. The haze is visible on the MODIS and GASP images. The AOD in Maryland is around 0.4 (IDEA). The pollution is most likely responsible for the poor air quality observed in the Midwest, the south and the east (EPA AirNow). The PM2.5 AQI is 77 in Hammond-Gary, IN. The ozone is moderate in the northwest and the Midwest (EPA AirNow).
