Skies are mostly clear in the Central U.S and East (due to a frontal system). A mix of clouds and haze is still evident in the South. Also, a tropical storm is present over the Gulf (source: NOAA OSEI). Check the blog tomorrow for possible updates on changes in the AQI as a result of this storm.

Smoke form fires, still apparent in the MODIS imagery, linger over the West. PM levels are elevated (~ “moderate” - code yellow) where haze/smoke is identified. The HMS team did a good job at summarizing all fire events (imagery). Also refer to today’s AOD image to get a general idea of the aerosol load.
