Haze in the midwest

Some haze in the midwest is creating code yellow and code orange fine particle concentrations, especially in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri. The haze is visible in the MODIS true color image below. Under the MODIS image and on the left is the fine particle concentrations from AIRNow. The OMI NO2 data (right) show high levels in the same region of the midwest. Higher fine particle concentrations and high NO2 readings continue in central and southern California, although the haze was not as visible.
