On this lovely cold Martin Luther King Day holiday, we have excellent air quality over all of the U.S. The higher levels of fine particles in California and the Pacific Northwest cleared by the afternoon (see AIRNow image, below) -- in fact there is beautiful snow in the mountains of Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, visible in the MODIS Terra image further below. A little foggy-haze can be seen in the midwest, in advance of another winter storm but it did not seem to have any impact on ground-level air quality and it also cleared by the afternoon.
