Western haze continues

With good air quality conditions throughout much of the U.S., the focus today is on the west coast. Hazy conditions in California worsened, with Bakersfield hitting code red for fine particles. Code orange conditions could be found in California, Oregon, and Idaho (see AIRNow images on the right). Haze in central California is visible in the MODIS images (left) although it is not visible under cloud cover in the Pacific Northwest.
