Improving conditions in western U.S.

California still had moderate fine particle concentrations, but clouds moved in, concentrations decreased, and conditions improved as the day progressed. The animated AIRNow image on the left shows the changing conditions in the 24 hour average fine particle concentrations. MODIS Terra (right) shows mostly clear conditions with possibly some smoky haze in the south (Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida) and Gulf of Mexico.
