Good Air Quality Continues but the Central U.S. is on fire

The air quality remains good (PM2.5 < 15.5 ug/m3) across the country.

Several fires are present in the Central U.S., which is particularly noticeable in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana (see bottom images; source-UW MODIS Direct). Refer to the HMS product for a depiction of fires and distributed smoke. Except for the cloud cover in the Southeast, skies are relatively clear everywhere else (bottom image).
