Some more on smoke/haze over U.S.

For the last few days we have been discussing long-range transport of smoke/haze to the United States. Smoke/haze in the Midwest/Central U.S., likely from Russian fires, is not clearly visible in today’s Terra MODIS image and the Aqua overpass missed this region. From Ana’s post we can better visualize the intensity and location of the aerosol load. Smoke/haze, however, is still visible (in the RGB) over the Pacific (close to California). Some of this smoke may also be due to local fire events (see the HMS image).
