Hazy West & South…

Skies are hazy (left image; source: UW MODIS Today) in the West and Southern Texas (particularly noticeable over the gulf region). Air quality conditions are primarily moderate in both of these regions (see EPA AIRNow). Take a look at the MODIS AOD map below and the GASP animated plot. The AOD is unity where the haze is most intense. Some of this “haze” may be transport from distant sources (refer to the NRL NAPPS Map below).
