Okmok volcanic plume observed over the Pacific Northwest

In three comments below, Scott Bachmeier of CIMSS has identified a visible plume in the GOES imagery crossing the US northwest yesterday.

The Okmok volcano erupted on July 12.

CALIPSO has an overpass yesterday at 9:00 UTC which should correspond to this plume. It may be the feature which is identified in the CALIPSO cross-section at 5-6 km.

The UMBC OMI SO2 website has the plume in the same location as the GOES page.
