Smoke over Canada and Unhealthy Conditions in California

There is smoke over central Canada that is jut beginning to enter the US over northern North Dakota and Minnesota. This can be seen in the MODIS Terra AOD imagery (left), and was also reported in the HMS analysis. The smoke is also visible in the Terra aqua RGB (right). The red dots are the fire locations of the fires leading to this intense smoke plume.

Elsewhere, particulate air quality was in the good to moderate range throughout the eastern half of the continental US
Central California is experiencing code yellow to orange conditions due to ozone (left, AIRNow ozone AQI), and unhealthy air quality due to the smoke (PM2.5) is currently present in northern California (right, AIRNow PM2.5 AQI).
