Canadian smoke coming through the east

The GASP image loop shows that the smoke from the fires in the Northwest Territories of Canada has moved through Wisconsin yesterday and now is over southern Canada and the lower great Lakes. We should be seeing this smoke pulse over eastern lidar sites later today and tomorrow.

In Montana, a fire (the Cascades fire) has bloomed up near 5 miles WSW of Cole Creek Ski area in Montana. See a photo by CruzinRob on Panaramio for what the area looks like. Wild country. The 17:45UTC image from Terra is on the left and the fire is really going in the right image from Aqua only 1:45 later.

And finally, California is still burning. Ukiah and other places in the north are showing unhealty air quality. The Telegraph fire just west of Yosemite has explosively grown today from a 1,600 to a 10,000 acre fire, causing evacuations. Rapidfire's subsetter has picked up three of the fires in California today with the Telegraph fire in the center of the image.
