Good PM2.5 AQI Levels and Midwest Smoke

Good PM2.5 AQI levels (5-11 ug/m3) were recorded at Maryland's Department of the Environment Oldtown monitoring station. Cloudy skies prevailed during today's observations (cloud deck at ~9 km), not shown in lidar timeseries (left figure). The boundary layer extended up to 1 km. HYSPLIT backtrajectories of the airmass/plume observed around 1.5-2.2 km between 14:00-16:00 UTC show that it came from the upper midwest (right figure). The smoke of fires in the midwest was highlighted by Amy her post yesterday.
