What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours

Yesterday, the air quality was good across much of the nation and today, we are seeing elevated moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups aerosol classifications through much of the lower Great Lakes states. A high pressure region is bringing hazy air from the south into the Lake Erie region (see left panel, for trajectories, and right panel for the red-green-blue imagery).

In California, a 750 acre brush fire has broken out north of Los Angeles in Little Tujunga Canyon and this has generated a large smoke plume off the coast.

Finally, Hurricane Norbert is moving northward across Texas and southwest New Mexico but has become significantly less organized this afternoon.
