Haze in the heartland and, yes again, California

We have two areas of extended moderate haze in the US today. California with the foggy San Joaquin Valley and the western end of the LA basin has a number of sites in the orange and yellow AQI range (left). In the Great Lakes states of IL, IN, OH, PA, there are a number of sites in the yellow or moderate range(right). There is snow and low fog on the ground so we see little in that image from space.

Our normal blogger, Meloë, is also in a snowy area (left panel, Paris, France). And finally in the right panel, I will be at the AMS meeting next week in Phoenix and sure enough, it shows a yellow indicator. Just to make us feel at home.
