Air quality has improved across the US

Yesterday's hazardous air quality has ameliorated somewhat. The PM levels are shown in the AIRNOW map below. Utah has returned to moderate air quality levels and only Bakersfield is in the unhealthy for sensitive groups range. In Tennessee, there is haze from Nashville through Chattenooga down to Birmingham, Alabama. The haze doesn't look to be fire related (see fire sites on this composite) and the METAR winds are showing the wind is flowing from the north-northeast. This appears to be anthropogenic.

There is some light haze over Denver (left) with a moderate PM reading. And in the east, the clouds wove a wonderful little cloud street pattern over western Maryland and southern Pennsylvania.
