Still mostly good air quality with a few fires in TX and LA

The AIRNOW PM maps are showing green across the country except for a few scattered moderate readings. The HMS system has noted a few fires in TX and LA and the map (right) makes them look as major sources.

While MODISToday is still undergoing some transitions to a new server, the MODIS .kml maps are not downloading from UWisc. Instead, you can get RGB images from the RAPIDFIRE subsetter and this is shown in the image on the left with the blue boxes as identified smoke sources from NOAA HMS. The map on the right is the HMS smoke map. It cannot be superimposed over RAPIDFIRE's RGB as it shows as an underlay, so I'm showing them side by side.

GASP does see enhanced AOD in this region but there is a lot of sediment in the water off Houston.
