Moderate air quality in the mid-Atlantic, smoke in south

Widespread cloud cover across the middle of the country today, which precludes observation of the highest PM levels which are in the Carolinas and Virginia (left). The NOAA HMS system is showing widespread fires across the south with several defined smoke plumes (right).

The Naval Postgraduate School's NAAPS forecast system is showing widespread dust coming from Asia and approaching the US. We will have to watch this this week.
