Code Orange for Ozone and PM2.5 in California persists; Dense smoke over Central America

Today according to AIRNow PM2.5 map (top, left), moderate conditions in Texas, Great Lakes region and California (reaching up to Code Orange). Ozone levels improved since yesterday in the Northeast but California still got Code Orange in the afternoon (top, right).

The fires in Central America persist and a dense smoke could be seen over the Gulf of Mexico by the Texas coast and over Mexico by Terra MODIS (bottom). No AOD data from MODIS was available on NOAA IDEA.
