Today’s MODIS TERRA AOD map (top, left) still shows strong light extinction due to smoke particles over Northwestern Canada. This is confirmed by the HMS map (top, right) and the SSD fire team at NOAA that describes a broad area of remnant light smoke situated over central Alaska drifting to the west and bands of light smoke drifting to the south through the west-central provinces in Canada.
The MODIS AOD map also shows fairly strong AOD values over the Texas-Mexican boarder. The MODIS TERRA RGB image shows visible aerosol plumes over the area.
Another region of high AOD values is over the Atlantic, offshore from Florida. A closer look at the MODIS TERRA RGB image (bottom, left) shows visible haze over the area.
Finally, today’s EPA AIRNow’s PM2.5 map (bottom, right) shows, at the most, “moderate” air conditions over a significant part of the eastern US. The ozone levels are, at the most, "moderate" in northern Florida and Oklahoma.
