Remnant Smoke over Canada and Southern Texas and Good Ozone AQI levels

NOAA’s Hazard Mapping System Fire and Smoke Product, overlaid in Google Earth (top left), shows the remnant light smoke from fires, discussed by Meloe yesterday on her post, over northwest Canada extended from the southern Northwest Territories, northern Alberta, across much of Saskatchewan and southwest Manitoba into the northern tier of the US from Washington east to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In the US, light smoke from fires in the Southwest was located over northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma, large portions of Arkansas and northwest Louisiana. The remnant smoke might have led to MODIS Terra AOD (top right) values higher AOD along the central and northwestern US-Canada border and southern Texas.

EPA AIRNow’s PM2.5 map (bottom left) shows, moderate air conditions over the northern Ohio River Valley, southern Texas, Georgia and Florida. Good AQI ozone levels (below left) prevailed throughout the US.
