Generally good Air Quality for mid July

The air quality is generally good for mid July (left image; EPA AIRNow). Most of the U.S., with California as the exception, is experiencing “code green” conditions (PM2.5 & Ozone). Utah, parts of the Northeast, and southern Florida has moderate PM2.5 concentrations. Sahara dust, as mentioned by Ruben yesterday, may be impacting the air quality in Florida. The AOD was particularly high in that region (right image; IDEA).

Ozone levels (right image; EPA AIRNow) remain high in California; concentrations reached “unhealthy for sensitive groups” (code orange). Concentrations were elevated in parts of Utah, Arizona, Texas, and Oklahoma as well.
