Smoke in the West. Hurricane Bill bringing dust?

Air quality conditions are generally good across the nation (refer to EPA AIRNow). Smoke still lingers over the Northwest, which is particularly evident over Canada. The high AOD is shown in today's IDEA image (left image). The NRL NAAPS map also provides a better understanding of aerosol concentrations (right image). The map shows smoke in the northwest, sulfates over the East coast, and dust over the Caribbean and Atlantic. There might be Sahara dust behind hurricane Bill, some of which may arrive over the East Coast (see NAAPS map for dust concentration estimate).
