Smoke over Southwestern Canada and Nevada, Good PM2.5 AQI

The high readings in today's MODIS Terra AOD retrieval over the US and Canada are due to smoke of from fires in Nevada (top left, source: NOAA IDEA) and southern British Columbia and western Alberta. The area of coverage of the smoke plumes are shown in the Google Earth (top right, source UW MODIS Today) overlay of NOAA's Hazard Mapping System Fire and Smoke Product. The Canadian smoke is clearly visible in MODIS Terra RGB image. According to EPA's Airnow, PM2.5 concentrations in the US were Good except on California and the Northeast that experienced MODERATE AQI levels.
