Although fires in Angeles National Forest continue, 45% of the fires have been contained improving the air quality conditions in Los Angeles. According to AIRNow Tech , PM2.5 readings today are much better than yesterday.

Today's MODIS TERRA AOD map presents high AOD levels in different areas (top left). The aerosol plume recorded during the week is today even closer to the Southeast coast than yesterday (top right). In addition, high AOD values are recorded in the Northeast part of US. According to NRL Monterrey Aerosol Modeling, the aerosol plume observed in the Southeastern coast is related to dust, and the high levels of AOD in the Northeastern portion correspond to sulfate (bottom right).
