Smoke over the West US and Canada

Today, Station Fire in California (with a little help of the northern Baja fires) caused a large area of the Western portion of US to be covered in moderate to very dense smoke as reported by HMS at NOAA (top, left). Also in this map we see a large area over Canada and US northern plains covered by smoke from the British Columbia fires.

AOD map from MODIS Aqua (top, right) shows high AOD values over Nevada, Utah and Canada as one could expect due to the latest events.
