Haze in the Central U.S.

Smoke does not appear to be as dense in California (left image; Terra MODIS; UW MODIS Direct). Air quality conditions range from moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups in the state (right image; EPA AIRNow). Haze was more visible over the Central U.S. and Canada (see IDEA AOD). The HMS team suggests that most of this haze is likely due to smoke aerosols (bottom image). Air quality conditions over this region are primarily moderate (top right image).
