Residual smoke from fires persists over US mantaining moderate conditions
Today AQI's across US were about the same as yesterday's (top, left) and the source of the aerosols, according to HMS at NOAA, are the recent wildfires that took place in California, Oregon, Utah and southern British Columbia. Ozone levels (top, right) were good to moderate in Texas/Oklahoma, Northwest (Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota) and in great part of the Midwest and East. Moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups in California around LA.
Clouds were covering good part of US today, leaving many gaps in the AOD map from MODIS Terra but still we can see higher AOD values over the regions where the true color image shows us some haze/smoke (North US, Canada - left image - and California/Nevada/Arizona - right image).
