Haze over the Pacific; some moderate AQI reports, but generally good air quality

The air quality is fairly good across the nation. Some haze was visible over the Pacific near the Atlantic and Gulf Coast (see afternoon AQUA overpass, UW MODIS Direct, left image). Moderate air quality (EPA AIRNow, right image) was reported for some parts of California, which is likely due to pollution from local sources (i.e. fires). Clouds cover most of the Northern portion of the country, which is blocking our view of the surface. However, haze is probably not present in that region since ground based air quality monitors, as mentioned earlier, captured PM2.5 concentrations in the good (code green) range. Other parts of the country experiencing moderate AQI include Utah and parts of the Southeast.
