Good Air Quality for Much of the US; Code Orange PM2.5 in California and Oregon

Air quality conditions for United States remained good for another day. PM2.5 levels (top left, courtesy of AIRNow) were low across the country . Code Yellow (Moderate) PM2.5 levels were primarily reported across on the west coast in much of California and Oregon On the eastcoast, Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania Two areas of Code Orange (Unhealthy) PM2.5 were reported in northeast Oregon and northern California. Ozone levels (top right, courtesy of AIRNow) were very good across the country today with Code Yellow levels were reported in California.


NOAA's Hazard Mapping System (HMS, below) reported two small areas of smoke in central Oregon today as well as two small areas in California. Fires are scattered throughout the country with the majority of them occurring on the west coast and central Texas. The MODIS Terra AOD map (IDEA) shows low AOD throughout the country.

Tomorrow's forecast by AIRNow (below) show Code Green (Healthy) throughout most of the country with exception to California where Code Yellow is forcasted.
