Puerto Rico Refinery Fires Captured by NOAA and NASA Satellites

In the early morning hours a blaze broke out an explosion (11 of 39 tanks) at Caribbean Petroleum Corp., a storage and refinery complex in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, according to local media. The smoke was captured by NOAA-19 satellite, and is the current NOAA Operational Significant Event Imagery event of the day. Below black smoke from the fires (gasoline, diesel and jet fuel) was visible in today's MODIS Terra(right figure) and Aqua (left figure) "true color" images. According to local authorities the fires will be contained in several days.
