Code Orange PM2.5 Levels in New York, Florida, and California

Code Orange (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups) PM2.5 levels (top left, courtesy of AIRNow) were reported today in central New York state, Florida, and northern California. Code Yellow (Moderate) PM2.5 levels were reported along the Great Lakes for much of the morning. Code Yellow PM2.5 levels were also reported in the Deep South, and along much of the west coast.

The MODIS Active Fire Mapping Program's large incident map reports only one fire in sotuhern Arizona here. NOAA's Hazard Mapping System (HMS) report's small patches of smoke in California, central Arizona, northern Texas. HMS also reports high concentrations of of fires in northern California, on the west coast of Oregon, Texas, and southern Florida.
