Moderate PM2.5 levels persist; Vog over Pacific

Moderate AQI persists over the West Coast and Central/Midwest US and seems to be moving towards the Northeast (AIRNow; top, left) and tropospheric NO2 was high over California and Midwest (OMI; top, right). Ozone levels were good.

RGB image from MODIS Terra (bottom, left) shows what seems to be a vog (volcanic fog) being carried away from Hawaii over the Pacific. According to Honolulu Advertiser trade winds were supposed to start sweeping out a few days ago the vog which has been bothering the Hawaiians since early October. From OMI image we could see a higher concentration of SO2 over Hawaii today but AIRNow shows that air quality in Hawaii was good.
